National Lottery Community Fund Award.
Music for my Mind is delighted to announce that we have just received a grant of £10,000 from the National Lottery Community Fund!
The money we’ve received from the National Lottery Community Fund will go towards the next phase of our product development work – our most ambitious project yet, in which we want to engage 1000 families in our 15 minute playlist creation app. This will be the second phase of our nationwide rollout, beginning later in 2021, and is more important than ever after this turbulent and isolating year for people living with dementia and their families. The award will go specifically towards software improvement and maintenance and staffing costs. By casting our net wider, we will also be expanding our offering to different communities, in particular by incorporating a much broader range of musical cultures and languages into our music catalogue and thus reaching BAME communities. Staffing and software are at the core of what we do, but are amongst our biggest financial hurdles, so this funding will go a long way to helping realise our goal of UK-wide playlists for all. Thank you for the support of all the National Lottery players!
If you would like to help us get to this stage and if you live with memory loss or have a loved one who is affected, visit our App below and create a personalised playlist for them for free. It’s simple and only takes up to 15 minutes. Listening to favourite music can be very beneficial for the well-being and quality of life of people with dementia, for example by helping manage anxiety and agitation or combat depression and apathy and rebuild connections.
