How MFMM Uses Your Generous Donations to Help Families Affected by Dementia
The vital role of funding for small charities and how MFMM uses your donations for good.
In a world where large organisations often dominate headlines, it’s crucial to remember the significant impact that small charities have on local communities and often overlooked, groups or populations. For charities like Music for my Mind, every donation matters, as it directly contributes to our mission and ability to provide well-being-enhancing, free resources for families affected by dementia.
Smaller charities, like Music for my Mind, rely heavily on donations to sustain and expand their efforts. While large contributions are always welcome, it’s essential to recognise that even the smallest donation can make a difference.
Here are a few of the ways we have used the money you’ve donated over the past year:
Enhancing Technology for a Better Playlist Maker Experience
Donations are instrumental in enhancing the technology behind Music for my Mind’s Playlist Maker. We are working to incorporate advanced algorithms that better understand individual preferences and needs, creating playlists that truly resonate with and have a positive effect on each person. This technology is crucial for making a meaningful impact on the lives of those affected by dementia, as music has been proven to have therapeutic benefits like reducing anxiety and improving mood.
Sustaining the Team and Providing Vital Support
Funding also plays a crucial role in ensuring the continuity of the team behind Music for my Mind. Our dedicated team works tirelessly to engage as many people as possible affected by dementia, conducting research into the effects of listening to personalised music and ensuring the smooth, day-to-day running of the charity. Without adequate funding, we would not be able to continue our mission and support the growing number of individuals affected by dementia.
Ways to Support Music for my Mind
There are numerous ways you can support Music for my Mind and help us continue our vital work:
1. Donate: Every donation, no matter the size, makes a difference. You can make a one-time contribution or set up a recurring donation to provide ongoing support.
2. Fundraise: Organise your own fundraising event or participate in one of our campaigns. From bake sales to sponsored runs and Facebook birthday fundraisers, every effort helps.
3. Spread the Word: Share our mission with your friends, family, and social networks. Our social links are at the bottom of the website, so please give us a follow. Raising awareness is key to attracting more supporters and expanding our reach.

A Huge Thank You to the Players of the People’s Postcode Lottery
We were delighted to receive a grant from the People’s Places Trust in late 2024 and extend our gratitude to the players of the People’s Postcode Lottery for making this possible.
The money, as well as your donations, will be used to help us reach more families affected by dementia, helping them reconnect and find moments of happiness or calm at difficult times.
The 2025 Big Give Campaign is Coming!
We are excited to announce that MFMM will once again be participating in the Big Give Arts For Impact campaign, where the philanthropic website www.biggive.org will match any funds raised by our supporters between 18th – 25th March this year.
Last year, you helped us raise an incredible £26,320 to help families affected by dementia and we are delighted to have used that money to improve our Playlist Maker and sustain the work of our dedicated core team.
We are hoping to raise the same again this year and hope we can rely on your generosity when the campaign goes live in a few weeks – keep an eye on your inbox!
A final heartfelt thank you to everyone who has supported MFMM over the years. Your generosity and dedication have made it possible for us to continue our work and make a difference in the lives of those affected by dementia.
